FAQ

What are your warmers made of and how do they work? Our family of air activated warmers, all contain a mixture of natural ingredients that when exposed to air react together to produce heat. This is accomplished through an extremely fast oxidation process. Ingredients include iron powder, water, salt, activated charcoal, and vermiculite. We have perfected the process so that our warmers, depending on the individual product, produce heat anywhere from 100°F to 180°F for the duration of 1 to 20+ hours.

Are warmers reusable? No. Our warmers are designed for one-time use and then disposed of in regular garbage.

What are some of the other benefits of “Air-Activated” technology? - Safety, Odorless, No external energy to activate, Convenient, Compact, Portable.

What is the expiration date? Our warmers have a shelf life of 3-4 years. The exact expiration date is printed on the box.

Are your warmers TSA approved?  Absolutely, according to our (SDS) Grabber - Safety Data Sheet and HotHands - Safety Data Sheet. We also provide a letter stating our Warmers are safe for airline travel. Find more information on the FAA website.

How to dispose of warmers? Warmers are made with natural ingredients and safe for the environment. Just use and dispose of in your everyday garbage.

Is every warmer the same? No. We engineered a complete range of products for use in a wide variety of outdoor activities. Because of this, our warmer products may vary in size, material and temperature duration. Because of this, please read product instructions on each package for additional features and important product information.

Why can’t the warmers be applied directly to skin? Although all warmers are safe to handle and use, some people with sensitive skin (especially young children, Diabetics and the elderly) may have reduced sensation to heat. Please read all instructions for use with each product and apply them properly.

What if my pet eats a warmer? Our products are not meant to be ingested. If your pet eats a warmer, you should contact ASPCA at 888-426-4435 immediately.

Why do some warmers get hotter and last longer than others? Both the maximum heat of the product and the length of the reaction can be very tightly controlled by the chemical formulation and the amount of air allowed in the warmer. Depending on your needs, there is a warmer for you.

Can I do a science project with warmers? Absolutely! Many students use our warmers to study exothermic reactions. For more information on how to set up a science project, visit http://www.scdhec.gov/environment/lwm/recycle/pubs/best_sfpg.pdf.

Where should I store my air-activated warmers? Store warmers in a cool, dry place. Because one of the ingredients is water, do not store them at temps below freezing.

Can warmers be used at elevated altitude levels? Yes. Being an air activated product, our warmers are dependent upon oxygen for proper activation. You will find that at higher altitudes that our warmers may have a bit of a delay in reaching their potential, so we advise planning for this ahead of time. Allow them a bit of time in the open air and slip into your pockets or gloves as you normally would. Though you may experience a delay, you will find that they will warm up to you.
